our story
In 2010, a devastating earthquake hit Haiti killing over 100,000 people and destroying the infrastructure of their major cities and towns. Rene Romil, a young man, begin working with NC Baptist on Mission Disaster Relief teams to help in the recovery. Already a believer, Romil would get on his motorcycle after work and share the gospel with a megaphone in the surrounding communities and towns.
By 2014, Romil had established himself as a reliable and effective leader NC Baptist on Mission and the Eastern Baptist Association of North Carolina could trust. Several pastors and churches went to Haiti on a vision tour. At that time, Romil was assisting several churches and schools connecting local pastors in Haiti with pastors in the United States.
By 2015, Romil felt led to plant his first church and establish a Christian school in the town of Arcahaie. With the support of the Eastern Baptist Association, NC Baptist on Mission, and several local churches in the United States, CFAM was established, property bought, and construction underway.
Church in the community of Andro
By 2018, CFAM had completed the initial stages of its building project, including a church, six classroom, housing for mission teams, and the outer wall of the property. Romil had also established another church and school in the community of Andro, part of the mountainous region of Haiti.
Both churches and schools are up and running. However, because of the civil unrest and political corruption it is extremely difficult to make financial advances. Both schools are in desperate need for support, both for the staff and students. Especially in Andro, where there little opportunity for employee for parents.
